The Season of Epiphany

The season of Epiphany at Good Shepherd shines with the Light of Our Lord which has come into our lives. This Light began when a star stood over a manger, and led wise men to the Christ Child. The Light grows brighter as we hear a voice from heaven speaking upon the Baptism of Jesus at the River Jordan, "This is my son in whom I am well pleased." This same Light blessed the wedding at Cana, by changing water into wine. The brightness of this light continues to grow each week towards the radiance of Jesus upon the mountain of the Transfiguration. This is the same Light which transforms our own baptismal waters into blessing, which is present to transform bread and wine at Good Shepherd into a Eucharistic banquet each Lord's day.

This Epiphany Light has shone us the Good Shepherd. Our parish bears witness that Jesus is the Light of the world. Throughout the Epiphany season we respond to that light which nourishes us through Word & Sacrament. We return to our callings, taking seriously our identity as the Body of Christ, charged with showing that Light to our community, our nation, and the whole world.
