Greetings from the Pastor

pr_sobersGood Shepherd carries on a rich tradition of worship, education and music that can be traced to the foresight of her fore bearers. The pastors of Good Shepherd, beginning with our beloved founder Charles Frazier, have without exception championed the unequivocal Good News of the Risen Lord as interpreted by the Lutheran Confessions. Gifted church musicians, rostered teachers of the Church, and inspired catechists throughout our history have been responsible for the solid grounding in the Gospel for generations.

The regenerative power of the Holy Spirit, manifested in Baptism and Eucharist, has empowered us to move forward in faith and courage without sacrificing our rich theological and liturgical heritage.

God's word: "Behold, I make all things new," is for the parish and people of Good Shepherd not a threat, but a promise.

We invite you to journey with us in the companionship of Jesus Christ who is source, guide and goal.

gsGood Shepherd is a mid-size Lutheran congregation in a residential section of Swatara Township, east of the City of Harrisburg. You will find us in the 3700 block on the northeast corner of Rutherford Street and Wilhelm Road (directions).

Saturdays at 5:00 PM a brief liturgy of Word & Sacrament is offered in the chapel for those who cannot attend a Sunday liturgy and reflects the same readings and homily of the following day. The chapel is accessible from the stairs on Wilhelm Road or from the Montour Street parking lot. This beautifully restored worship space was our original nave.

On Sunday mornings at Good Shepherd you will find a gathering of friendly people responding to God's call to be filled with his presence. We celebrate Word & Sacrament at each liturgy, 8:30 AM and 11:00 AM in season. (During the summer, the 11:00 liturgy is moved to 10:00; both summer liturgies are held in our air-conditioned chapel.)

Ushers will welcome you with bulletins for ease in following our liturgies.
Nursery Service is offered during the 11:00 liturgy.
A ramp is available at the Wilhelm Road entrance, which is at sidewalk level.

Wednesdays, at 9:30 AM
, you will find friendly people gathered about Word & Sacrament in our chapel. An informal coffee hour follows this spoken liturgy.

Parking is available on neighborhood streets, with additional spaces available in the parking lot behind the church building, accessible from Montour Street.
